Residents of Mindanao no longer need to travel far for comprehensive cardiovascular care as AppleOne Medical Group (AMG) continues to redefine the healthcare landscape in the south. Marking a significant milestone in regional medical developments, Brokenshire Medical Center (BMC) in Davao City has officially unveiled the BMC Heart Institute, a state-of-the-art facility offering full-spectrum cardiovascular services.
The launch underscores AMG’s aggressive but deliberate strategy to elevate provincial healthcare infrastructure, providing specialized services that were previously inaccessible in the region.
“At AppleOne Medical Group, our goal has always been to elevate the standard of living in Visayas and Mindanao (VisMin) through the places we build, the experiences we offer, and now, through the care we deliver. Establishing AMG in 2020 was a bold step during the height of the pandemic, driven by our purpose and strong belief in the VisMin region. Today, we are even closer to bringing world-class healthcare closer to home,” shared Ray Go Manigsaca, President and CEO of AppleOne Group.

Functioning as a critical regional referral hub, the new institute caters not only to Davao City but also to patients across Western Mindanao, Northern Mindanao, BARMM, and surrounding provinces. It bridges an essential gap in local medicine by housing a multidisciplinary team of top-tier cardiologists who manage everything from early preventive screenings and non-invasive diagnostics to highly complex invasive procedures. These interventions include Diagnostic Coronary Angiography, Angioplasty, Coronary Stenting, cardiac rehabilitation, and specialized long-term disease management.

To enhance the patient experience and ensure a seamless healing journey, the institute introduces a specialized Heart Care Coordinator system. This setup meticulously guides individuals through every step of their medical journey, from the initial consultation and treatment phases up to post-discharge recovery and follow-up care.
The establishment of the Heart Institute adds to BMC’s long-standing legacy of medical milestones in the region. Established in 1917 and currently managed by AMG, the hospital has consistently introduced pioneering healthcare solutions to Mindanao, including the region’s premier hospital-based multidisciplinary center for children with special needs (CANDEV) and its sole IVF Laboratory.

The expansion reflects AMG’s broader vision for its healthcare footprint across Visayas and Mindanao. Aside from BMC in Davao, the group manages VisayasMed in Cebu and United Shalom in Tacloban. Moving forward, the company plans to establish a robust hub-and-spoke network, constructing satellite care centers within a 50-kilometer radius of each flagship medical institution to make primary and specialized care even more accessible to regional communities.
The formal opening of the facility followed a sequence of community and corporate events aimed at fostering awareness. AMG hosted a Corporate Launch to present the facility to institutional partners, followed by an internal briefing for medical staff and a public Heart and Wellness Fair designed to promote cardiovascular health awareness among Davao residents.
