Sonrisa Gardens introduces a modern chapter to garden living in Palawan

The groundbreaking of Sonrisa Gardens marks a significant milestone in Suntrust Properties, Inc.’s expansion in Palawan, with the mixed-use community set to rise in Barangay San Pedro, Puerto Princesa. The development forms part of Megaworld-Suntrust’s Baytown Palawan township, placing residences within a larger setting of urban conveniences.

Inspired by Palawan’s lush tropical gardens, Sonrisa Gardens will bring living spaces, commercial areas, and lifestyle amenities into a vertical community. The project reflects a contemporary approach to city living while drawing from the character of its island environment.

A garden-inspired approach to urban living

Spanning 34,955.52 square meters, the development comprises seven low-density mid-rise towers. Its initial phase consists of three towers with approximately 1,445 residential units, 33 commercial spaces, and 236 parking spaces.

The first three towers offer Studio, 1-Bedroom, and 2-Bedroom units with a Modern Asian design theme. Residential interiors feature ceramic tile finishes in the living, dining, and kitchen areas, while 1-Bedroom and 2-Bedroom units have vinyl plank flooring in the bedrooms. Kitchens come with custom-built overhead and under-counter cabinets, complemented by mechanical ventilation.

Sonrisa Gardens amenities provide residents with spaces for leisure and relaxation.

The project’s garden concept extends into its shared spaces through the Bamboo Garden, Zen Garden, and Flower Garden, each designed to promote relaxation and wellness. These landscaped areas are part of a wider range of outdoor spaces for recreation and leisure, including an adult pool with Jacuzzi, a kiddie pool, pool deck and lounges, children’s playground, and sky gardens.

Indoor facilities will provide additional spaces within the community, with a fitness gym, function hall, indoor play area, and reception lobby.

Designed for convenience

Location is another defining element of Sonrisa Gardens. Situated in San Pedro, the condominiums are just minutes from the Puerto Princesa International Airport and the city center, providing access to key destinations and essential establishments.

As part of Baytown Palawan, the project also puts residents near lifestyle hubs and other conveniences planned in the township. This connection to the wider development gives Sonrisa Gardens an atmosphere that combines residential living with access to places for everyday needs and activities.

Practical features are also incorporated into the development. These include a property management office, 24-hour security, a centralized mail area, commercial parking, and emergency backup power for selected common areas. An overhead water tank and underground cistern support the water supply, while automatic fire sprinklers are provided in all units.

Designed by LPPA Design Group, Sonrisa Gardens has earned recognition for its architectural concept. The project received a 5-Star Award for Mixed-Use Architecture in the Asia Pacific Region at the 2025 International Property Awards, as well as the Ani ng Dangal Award 2025 from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts under Architecture and Allied Arts.

Reflecting Puerto Princesa’s growth

For Suntrust President Atty. Harrison Paltongan, Sonrisa Gardens mirrors Puerto Princesa’s evolution into a destination where people can live, enjoy, invest, and thrive. He noted that the company sees strong potential in Palawan and views the development as an opportunity to contribute to the province’s continued growth.

“Sonrisa Gardens allows us to be part of that transformation by building a community where people can enjoy quality living and modern conveniences, while staying connected to the unique character of Palawan,” shared Atty. Paltongan.

Puerto Princesa is steadily emerging as a center for tourism, business, and investment, creating greater demand for residential communities that offer contemporary convenience and balanced living. Sonrisa Gardens positions itself as a compelling residential environment within that same evolving landscape, merging a garden-inspired environment and modern residential spaces with access to the wider township.
